Acetyl Tyrosine- See amino acids. This particular amino acid is derived from animal and vegetable proteins.

Achillea Millefolium Extract- From the whole plant of the Yarrow. Many cultures use this extract as an herbal remedy to promote healing of wounds and cuts. Restores suppleness to the hair. Soothing to the scalp.

Alanine- See amino acids. Protein amino acid with hair strengthening properties.

Almond oil- Sweet almond oil is obtained from the dried kernel of the plant. Almond oil is a lightweight oil, rich in essential fatty acids and  unsaturated fats. Very easily absorbed into the  hair and skin

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice-  Aloe is well known for its moisturizing properties and as a healing agent for wounds, abrasions and skin irritations. An excellent hydrator for dry hair.

Aloe butter-  Obtained from the Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) plant.  Excellent moisturizer with a PH almost identical to that of the skin. Known for its skin healing properties. Contains multiple proteins, vitamins and minerals. Softens, conditions and moisturizes the hair and scalp.

Amino acids- The building blocks that make up proteins. Human hair is made up of 18 amino acids.  Amino acids  are nourishing to the hair and skin. Amino acids strengthens the hair which is why many quality hair care products contain them.

Apricot kernel oil- Lightweight oil produced from the kernels of the apricot pit. Smoothes, nourishes, softens, moisturizes and protects the hair and skin. High in oleic acid, vitamin A and minerals. Easily absorbed into hair and skin.

Arginine- See amino acids. Protein amino acid with hair conditioning properties.

Articum Majus Root Extract- Extracted from the Arctium plant. Softens and smoothes the hair shaft. Stimulates circulation to the scalp and encourages hair growth. Known for its conditioning, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

Avocado butter- Obtained from the fruit of the Avocado tree (Persea Gratissima). Known for its moisturizing and conditioning properties. Shines and strengthens the hair. Prevents breakage. Contains fatty acids, vitamins A, C, D and E, proteins, beta-carotene, lecithin.

Avocado oil- A rich oil which is made from the pulp of the avocado fruit. This penetrating oil is easily absorbed into the hair and scalp. Contains fatty acids, vitamins A, C, D and E, proteins, beta-carotene, lecithin.

Biotin- Known as vitamin H. Also part of the B vitamin group. Vital for hair growth and scalp health. A biotin deficiency can cause seborrheic dermatitis, dandruff and dry skin.

Calcium Pantothenate- Also known as vitamin B5. See vitamin B definition.

Castor oil- Vegetable oil obtained from the castor bean. Softens the hair and scalp. Easily absorbed by the skin and hair. Smoothes the cuticle layer of the hair and seals in moisture. Leaves the hair soft, glossy and silky.

Centella Asiatica Extract- Known as Gotu Kola and Indian Pennywort. Contains vitamin B and C and important protein amino acids. Extracted from the Hydrocotyle Centella asiatica plant which is found in India and Pakistan. Excellent conditioning agent. Many Asians use this herb to stimulate nail and hair growth. Has been used in Ayurvedic medicine centuries.

Cinnamomumb Zeylanicum Extract- Extracted from the bark of the  Cinnamomum zeylanicum tree. Known for its healing properties. Excellent for the hair and scalp.

Citrulline- See amino acids. Protein amino acid with hair conditioning properties.

Citric Acid- Derived from corn and added to clarifying shampoos. Acts as chelating agent. Great to use in areas where hard water is a problem for your hair. It binds to chlorine and iron and removes them from the hair.

Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract- Also known as German Chamomile or Wild Chamomile. Known for its healing, anti-inflammatory and conditioning properties.

Cocamidopropyl Betaine- Derived from Coconut Oil. Gentle cleansing agent with conditioning properties. Provides a rich, creamy lather.

Corn Protein- Protein with mid-range molecular weight. Strengthens the hair while adding body.

Cymbopogon Schoenanthus (Lemongrass) Extract- Known for its antimicrobial, antioxidant and antifungal properties. Has antioxidant properties. An excellent normalizer for oily skin.

Emu oil- Derived from a substance that is produced by the Emu Bird. Penetrates the hair shaft quickly and easily. Easily absorbed and does not sit on the top layer of the hair strand. Leaves the hair soft and shiny. Conditions the scalp also. Studies have shown faster hair growth with the use of this oil. For more info click here

Essential Oil Fragrance- Aromatic liquid substances. Extracted from certain flowers, grasses, fruits, leaves, roots, and trees.

Fenugreek- A plant in the Family Fabaceae. One of the world's oldest medicinal herbs. Is known to help increase hair growth and reduce male pattern baldness.

Fo Ti Extract-  Chinese herbal extract proven to improve the condition of brittle nails, thinning hair and dry skin.

Geranium Maculatum Extract- Extracted from the Geranium Maculatum plant. Invigorates and rejuvenates the scalp while promoting scalp circulation.

Germall Plus- Gentle paraben free preservative.

Ginger (Zingiber Officinale) Extract- An extract of the rhizome of the perennial plant Zingiber Officinale. Known for its  anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and healing properties. Increases circulation to the scalp.

Ginkgo Biloba- Derived from the Ginkgo Biloba leaf. An antioxidant which increases circulation to the scalp. It is believed that this herbal remedy promotes healthy hair growth and protects against hair loss. Adds volumize and shine to the hair.

Glucosamine- Glucosamine occurs naturally in the body’s joints and cartilage. Strengthens hair and nails while maintaining healthy joints and connective tissue. Helps to maintain strong, healthy hair.The molecule is very small, easily absorbed into the hair shaft.

Glutamic Acid- See amino acids. Protein amino acid with hair strengthening properties.

Glycine-  See amino acids. Protein amino Acid with hair conditioning properties.

Glycerin- A humectant which attracts moisture. Derived from vegetable oil. Conditions and softens the hair.

Hamamellis Virginana (Witch Hazel) Extract- Extracted from the Hamamellis Virginana plant. A natural astringent and tonic. An excellent ingredient  for scalp cleansing.

Horsetail (Equisetum Arvense) Extract- Extracted from the plant Equisetum Arvense. Contains high concentrations of silica and other minerals. Silica promotes strength, growth and elasticity of the hair and nails.  Known for its astringent and healing properties. Soothing to the scalp. 

Hyaluronic Acid- Derived from sugar beets and soy.Superb humectant and moisturizing ingredient. One hyaluronic acid molecule can hold up to 10 times its weight in water. Occurs naturally in the skin. Forms a layer of moisture on the hair shaft allowing the to retain its natural moisture level.

Jojoba Oil- An oil produced in the seed of the Jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) plant. Jojoba oil is chemically very similar to human sebum.  An extremely conditioning oil which is great for the hair and scalp. Vitamin E rich. Provides healing to the scalp and easily absorbed into the skin. Naturally P.H. balanced. Smoothes the cuticle, lubricates, protects and gives the hair a beautiful shine. Great for scalp massages. Particularly beneficial for dry or chemically treated hair.

Kigelia Africana Extract- This extract is from the African Sausage Tree. Contains flavinoids and saponins. Clinically proven to improve firmness and elasticity of the hair and skin.

kukui nut oil- Grown in Hawaii. This oil is pressed from the seeds of the Aleurites moluccana tree. Very rich in oleic acid. Soothing to the scalp! Great for dry and weather-exposed hair and skin.

Lysine- See amino acids. Protein amino Acid with hair strengthening properties.

Macadamia nut oil- Grown in Hawaii, Pressed from the seeds of the macadamia (Macadamia integrifolia) tree. Contains omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids. Softens the hair and skin.

Meadowfoam oil- A rich oil extracted from the seeds of Limnanthes alba (meadowfoam). Easily absorbed by the hair and skin. Extremely stable and very conditioning to the hair and scalp.

Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract- Derived from the Melissa Officinalis Leaf. Has antiseptic properties. Clarifies, refreshes and soothes the scalp. Melissa Officinalis Leaf Extract has an astringent effect when used on the skin.

Nettle (Urtica Dioica) Extract- Obtained from the flowers of lamium album. Great for the hair because it contains amino acids, minerals, vitamins A and C. Gives hair a glossy shine. Great for the scalp because it invigorates the scalp and has astringent properties. A natural toner.  Excellent for sensitive scalp and skin.  Traditionally used as a herbal remedy for dandruff.

Niacinamide- Member of the water-soluble B vitamin group. Also known as
Vitamin B3. Known for increasing the blood flow to scalp.

Olive butter- A conditioning butter that is derived from olive oil (Olea europaea). Softens, conditions and shines the hair while improving elasticity and strength.

Olive oil- Made from pressed olives. Nourishes and conditions the hair. Also known for  improving the strength and elasticity of the hair.

Omega 3 Blend- Includes linolenic fatty acids. A type of fatty acid found in fish oils. This combination of oils strengthen the hair and improves its condition. Does wonders for the appearance and  texture of the hair.

Omega 6 fatty acids- Includes linoleic fatty acids. Strengthens and conditions the hair -  improves its condition.

Panax Ginseng Root Extract- One of the most prized herbs in China. A stimulant and tonic used in cosmetic products. It is known to reduce inflammation, stimulate cell growth, extend cellular life span, and heal minor skin damage. Very effective constituent in hair care products because of its conditioning properties.

Panthenol- Known as Vitamin B-5 or Pantothenic Acid . Natural hair hydrator and thickener. Gives the hair body and promotes hair health. Helps to nourish the scalp and strengthen the hair. Moisturizes and improves the structure of the hair. Adds sheen to the hair.

Peanut oil- Clear oil pressed from peanuts. Contains multiple fatty acids. Softens, shines and conditions the hair and scalp.

Proline- See amino acids. Protein amino Acid with hair conditioning properties.

Prunus Serotina (Wild Cherry) Bark Extract- Extracted from the green bark of Prunus virginiana tree. Has astringent properties. Energizes the scalp.

Quillaja Saponaria Bark Extract- Extracted from the Soapbark (Quillaja saponaria) evergreen tree in Chile. Known for its gentle cleansing properties.

Quercus Alba Bark Extract- Known for its astringent properties. When applied to the scalp, it commonly prevents dandruff.

Rice Protein- Protein with low molecular weight. Easily penetrates the hair shaft  to reconstruct and strengthen damaged hair.

Rosa Canina Fruit Extract- Also known as rose hip oil. Good emollient oil that has antioxidant properties. Great conditioning agent.

Rosemary (Romarinus Officinalis) Extract- A natural astringent known for its antioxidant ability. Helps to increase blood circulation to the scalp. Has cleansing, anti-bacterial and  anti-fungal properties. Rejuvenates, moisturizes and softens the hair and sclap.

Safflower oil- Extracted from the seeds of the safflower. Hydrates and revitalizes the hair and skin. Contains high levels of omega 6 fatty acids.

Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract- Salvia Officinalis is a plant in the mint family. Excellent scalp clarifier. Deep cleanses impurities away from the scalp. Works with other herbs to heal scalp problems such as psoriasis and dandruff.

Serine- See amino acids. Protein amino Acid with hair conditioning properties.

Sesame oil- An oil made from the sesame seed. Provides natural sun protection for the hair and skin. Nourishes and moisturizes. Contains vitamin E, fatty acids, magnesium, copper, calcium, iron, zinc and vitamin B6.

Shea butter- Obtained from the seed of the Karite Tree (Butyrospermum Parkii) common to West Africa. Easily absorbed into the hair and scalp. Moisturizes, softens and conditions. Restores moisture in hair that is damaged, dry and brittle.    

Silk Amino Acids- Hydrolyzed from pure silk fibers. These particular amino acids have a lower molecular weight enabling it to penetrate and strengthen each hair strand. Detangles the hair and gives the hair softness.

Soy Protein- Vegetable protein excellent for strengthening the hair. A natural antioxidant.

Spirulina Maxima Extract- Derived from blue-green micro-algae. This extract is mineral rich and is a water-binding agent. Has conditioning and antioxidant properties.

Sulfur- A mineral known to promote hair growth. Naturally found in high concentrations in hair, skin, muscles and bones. Sometimes called the "beauty mineral" because it helps to maintain healthy hair, skin and nails. 

Sunflower oil- A light oil derived from from the seed of the Sunflower plant. High in Vitamins A, B, D, and E. Also contains fatty acids, calcium, zinc, iron, potassium, and phosphorus. Great lubricant that provides moisture to the hair and skin.

Sweet almond butter- A soft butter which is derived from sweet almonds. Know for its conditioning properties. Very lightweight and not oily. Softens  the hair.

Symphytum Officinale Extract- Also known as comfrey. This botanical is used for its astringent and healing properties. Contains valuable vitamin content. Great for the scalp and hair.

Threonine- See amino acid. Protein amino Acid with hair strengthening properties.

Vitamin B Complex-  This vitamin complex is necessary to maintain healthy hair. Vitamin B complex and healthy hair go hand in hand. Adds shine and luster. Contributes to hair growth by reducing  shedding, breakage, split ends.  Vitamin B complex aids in oxygen transport  from the lungs to other parts of the body including the hair follicles resulting in hair growth.

Vitamin E-  This vitamin acts as an antioxidant. Supplies oxygen to the blood and retards cellular aging. Improves scalp circulation which results in improved hair growth.

Wheat Amino Acids- Water soluble protein naturally derived from wheat. This protein has a higher molecular weight enabling it to coat the porous and damaged areas of the hair through covalent bonding. Restores elasticity, smoothes the hair and improves shine. This protein coating strengthens, mends and allows moisture retention in each hair strand. Builds body and reduces porosity. 

Wheat Germ Oil- Wheat germ oil is extracted from the germ of the wheat kernel. Contains vitamin A,D, E, B1, B2, B3, B6, and F. Also contains high levels of linoleic acid (omega-6 fatty acids), minerals and proteins.  Also used as a dietary supplement because of its anti-oxidant  properties.

Yucca Schidigera Extract- Extracted from the Yucca Schidigera plant which is found throughout Southwestern United States. Contains vitamins A, B complex, C, iron, manganese, phosphorus, silicon, magnesium and selenium. Has been shown  to stop hair loss and restore hair growth by reducing DHT.

Zinc Gluconate- Mineral necessary for hair growth and skin cell restoration. Encourages and promotes healing. Great for the scalp. Often prescribed orally to help control some forms of acne.
